Blue rose nail art inspired by Leroy Nguyen

I haven’t done nail art in a while, but I was inspired by my friend Leroy Nguyen’s latest collection, inspired by the blue rose from the film Pan’s Labyrinth. A while back I did another manicure inspired by his prints – strangely enough, this new collection lends itself to drag marbling as well!

I think I’ll have to incorporate the black and white patterns next time, but for this manicure I simply blobbed on the blue roses, added a dab of another colour, then swirled it carefully with a toothpick to create the rose pattern.

I used some of my favourite blue cremes for this design: Duri Summertime Blues, OPI Keeping Suzi at Bay, OPI Incognito in Sausalito, a random sky blue creme from TBN, Face of Australia Ocean Villa, ulta3 Spring Shower. Unfortunately I made the mistake of using Mode XOXO as a magenta purple accent – it’s a bleeder! It bled into much of my design, but I think it still looks quite good – just less perfect. I’ll have to try it again in the future.

  1. Wow this is amazing!!!! You’re so talented! And you make it sound so much easier than I think it would actually be…maybe I’ll have to give it a try!

    • Thanks Sharon! I really don’t understand why people don’t get more into drag marble – it’s so much easier than water marbling and the results are spectacular!

  2. How pretty! <3 I can see this becoming a total mess if I tried it, but I might just have to give it a go anyways 🙂
