I’ve raved about Burt’s Bees very wearable lip shimmers in a previous blog post, and I’ve included a tube of their excellent lip balm in my giveaway, but Burt’s Bees also have other products in their new colour range too!

First off, for the timid, there are the tinted lip balms. These give a very sheer wash of colour, which is great for a natural look, or if you’re not too sure about the colour. They’re as moisturising as the regular stuff, but with a polished look. Honeysuckle is unfortunately too lightly tinted for my skin tone, but it would be a very pretty nude on someone with paler skin.

I’ve loved the deep red and brown of Rhubarb and Fig, but Peony lip shimmer is a much lighter rosy pink with lots of shimmer. This is a bit too pale and frosty on me, but would be a lovely natural shade on someone with paler lips. I love the slim design of the lip shimmers – they’re easy to apply, even with a flat top. One of the only gripes I have about the lip shimmers is the high proportion of peppermint, which makes your lips tingle for a while. I’m guessing some people really like the sensation, but I’m not a fan.

Burt’s Bees lip glosses are designed for layering – they aren’t very shiny, but do add a lot of shimmer and a pretty wash of colour. The texture is quite sticky though. Summer Twilight is is a pretty blue-toned red – if you’re looking for a brighter red, Evening Glow is your best bet. If you’re after a more glassy gloss, the lip shines might be for you.

I don’t think I’ll get much use out of the lip glosses ($16.95) or lip shines ($14.95), since I don’t wear shiny lips much, but the lip shimmers are one of my favourite go-to one-step lip products, and luckily they’re also the most budget friendly ($9.95 a pop). I also love the tinted lip balms ($14.95), and I think they would’ve been my HG everyday lip colour if I weren’t getting into brighter colours now. I hope the Burt’s Bees cosmetics range continues to grow – I’d love to see a cheek tint, or a range of opaque lipsticks!
