Here’s yet another new (to me, anyway) Aussie indie brand – Miss Ashleigh. Miss Ashleigh is run by a lovely chick called Ashleigh (surrrprise!), and they specialise in lovely workhorse cremes and shimmers, though in recent collections there have been some stunning glitters and thermals as well. I was sent some of the new summer collection to review.
I was most impressed by And It Was All Yellow – it’s a highlighter yellow shade that doesn’t require a white base, and is opaque in 3 coats! Unfortunately my camera couldn’t quite capture the eye-searing neon. I’ve never tried a neon yellow that went neon without a white base to make it pop (which then leads to a narrow white frame around your nails after cleanup), so I’m extremely pleased.
The cheekily named Show Us Your Watermelons is another favourite of mine from this collection. It’s a deep pretty coral pink, much like ripe watermelon flesh, or watermelon-flavoured Hubba Bubba. 3 coats.
Like a Sunrise is a neon orange. Again, I was impressed by how neon it got without needing a white base.
Déjà-Blue is a bright royal blue creme with sparse holo dust. The holo is very subtle, and not very linear. I think adding more holo would dull the gorgeous intensity of the rich blue though.
The Grape Gatsby has an intense purple creme base, with an assortment of multicoloured glitter (heavy on the silver holo). Although this didn’t grab bling-phobic me, I’ve had several people coo over the bottle already, so I think it’s a love-it-or-hate-it shade.
Let’s Clown Around is a topper that fits nicely in with the bright summery colours of this collection. It contains cheerful neon glitter in various shapes and colours, in a clear base.
Here it is over Like a Sunrise:
And over Déjà-Blue:
All of the polishes are UV active, with the exception of Show Us Your Watermelons:

And It Was All Yellow glows yellow, more yellow than this picture shows.
Déjà-Blue glows pale blue.
All swatches were photographed with a layer of top coat, but self-levelled nicely without one. Application was excellent, though some of the larger glitters in Let’s Clown Around and The Grape Gatsby took a little patience to fish out (you can easily get around this by using a toothpick).
The newer Miss Ashleigh polishes come in square 15 mL bottles, similar to Face of Australia’s standard range, while the older bottles are a vintage shaped 14 mL bottle, much like ones Milani uses. I do love square bottles – they fit in my Helmer so nicely!
From this collection, my favourites were Déjà-Blue, And It Was All Yellow and Show Us Your Watermelons. If you’re looking into getting yourself some Miss Ashleighs, I would also recommend checking out the thermal range, especially if you don’t own any yet – they’re so much fun to wear!
Miss Ashleigh polishes are available for purchase here. You can also follow them on Facebook for the latest updates and releases.
