Today I’m reviewing a JORD wood watch. JORD is one of the many companies coming out with wooden watches now – apart from their obvious hipster appeal, they actually have a few advantages over metal and plastic. Firstly, they’re very lightweight, which is a big plus if you’re into chunky watches. They’re also not as sweaty and sticky as plastic. On top of that, the natural wood grain finish is gorgeous! The raw wood finish is more fragile and needs more upkeep than metal or plastic though – I wouldn’t wear this to the gym.
JORD wood watches are made from sustainably sourced wood. I picked Ely in Dark Sandalwood to review. It’s crafted in an elegant deep brown and black theme, with eye-catching silver accents. The attention to detail in this watch is very obvious when you see it, from the smooth links to the carefully engraved JORD logo on the back of the watch.
Ely comes in three other woods, but I picked Dark Sandalwood thinking it’d match most outfits and hide dirt best. The JORD website advises cleaning with lemon or orange oil extract, and coating it with beeswax, butcher block oil or walnut oil to maintain the original finish.
The stainless steel clasp is pretty cool as well. To put on the watch, you fold the wood together and press to snap shut, and there are two push buttons to squeeze together to release. It sounds complex but it’s one of the most convenient watches I’ve ever put on! The nifty clasp means that it’s wood the whole way around when closed.
I’m really in love with this watch! It’s stylish, unique and well made. Pretty much everyone I’ve shown this watch to has gotten a serious case of grabby hands with it, so I think it’s safe to say that a wood watch would make a fantastic gift for someone special. JORD have a wide range of other watches as well, and free shipping worldwide.

The watch is definitely very hipstery–are you a hipster? 😉
And YOUR NAILS, omg! They are so, so gorgeous! I love that and the photo where you’ve laid out all your accessories. <3
Thanks! It’s actually super easy to do these nails – it’s my lazy nail art go-to when I want something fancier than plain colour but don’t have more than an hour in front of the TV to do my nails.
And I’m too hipster to admit to being a hipster 😉
Unghhhh I have been stalking their site recently! I love them!
Definitely on the wishlist <3
Can you tell me if the metal clasp would be touching your skin? I had an allergic reaction to my metal watch band a while back so I’d like to try a wood one, but this looks like the metal clasp would still be touching my skin.
It does – but it’s stainless steel if that helps?
Thanks for the info! Stainless steel may be okay.
Lovely post! I can’t stop admiring your nails…what’s on it and how did you do it?
