I’m in love with Revlon Lip Butters, but in Australia they’re really pricey (RRP is… $21.95!!). Luckily, there are a few dupes and near-dupes that have popped up recently, including the Maybelline Color Whisper lippies I reviewed last week. Here’s another, the Models Prefer Moisture Lust line, which comes in at a tad over half the price of the Lip Butters ($11.99). Models Prefer is a brand that’s exclusive to Priceline, and I’ve been really impressed with their recent offerings.
First off – this is my favourite dupe so far! The Moisture Lust lippies as pigmented as the Lip Butters, but the formula is less soft, which means you don’t use up half a tube before you realise it.
The lipstick is encased in a sleek, chic perspex-and-steel affair. Very elegant-looking, and it’s easy to tell what the shade is through the clear lid or from the colour coded stickers on the bottom.
8 colours of Moisture Lust are available. The two colours I received for review are Fairy Floss, a coral with gold shimmer, and Salted Caramel, a brownish nude. These hand swatches are just one soft swipe – the colours build quickly with additional layers on the lips.
I was initially quite apprehensive about the gold shimmer in Fairy Floss, but on the lip the shimmer isn’t as noticeable. It glides on smoothly and the pigment builds up to give a polished but still quite natural everyday look.
I was even more apprehensive about Salted Caramel, since I’ve had terrible luck with nude lipsticks. I think this is the closest I’ll get to a good nude shade! It looks pretty good on me, but I’m not wowed. Maybe nude lippie just isn’t for me!
Overall, in case you can’t tell – I LOVE these! Just like the Lip Butters, they’re easy to apply, glideon smoothly, build up nicely and feel moisturising and soft. And as a bonus, they smell faintly of vanilla 🙂 I’ll be grabbing a few more of these for my lipstick collection!
Models Prefer Moisture Lust lipsticks retail for $11.99 (although there are frequent sales) and are available from Priceline (online store link).

It’s not bad at all for a lippie, plus you get more in a tube of this than in the Lip Butters!
I love these colours!
I’m still not sold on Salted Caramel, but I’m hoping it grows on me…
so subtle and pretty!
I love how they’re not as “made up” looking as an opaque lipstick – less maintenance required!
