So it’s Mother’s Day this Sunday – are you prepared? If not, never fear! There are still a few days left to get your mum a present. How fine are you cutting it? Get your act together and avoid the dreaded gaze of disappointment with these ideas…
Three days left
Grab your credit card, run down to the shops and bag a gift set! There are a lot of options at the moment. Estee Lauder’s pleasures Simple Luxuries set includes a fresh floral perfume with a matching body lotion, with a cheerful polka dot cosmetics bag ($80, Myer and David Jones).
If your mum is more of a down-to-earth type, try Nivea’s Pure & Natural gift set, including a hand cream, body lotion, lip balm and day cream, with skin-pleasing argan oil, aloe vera and chamomile ($20, Target and Chemist Warehouse).

Can’t make it to the shops? Check what’s in the fridge and organise to cook her a meal – try All Recipes’ Ingredients Search to find what you can make with what you have on hand. If you’re not so great at cooking, recruit a partner or sibling, or order takeout and see if you can pass it off as your own (adding some badly chopped vegetables does wonders).
Alternatively, get her an online gift voucher – you can send her a Priceline email gift card (delivery within 24 hours) or if you’re cutting it extra fine, a Myer voucher (delivery within 4 hours).

If this is your version of a boiled egg, maybe go the online gift voucher route.

Well, bugger. Roll up your sleeves, mash some lavender into your least odourous cooking oil, borrow some flowers from the neighbours’ garden and get ready to give a damn good footrub.
