I haven’t done a scent post in a while, so here’s an update on what I’ve been sniffing lately…

I recently discovered an Aussie melt seller on eBay – VH Reflections from Melbourne. She has a discount melts section where she sells slightly deformed discounted melts (usually melted in the sun at the markets and resolidified with random crystal patches – much like Lush Lemony Flutter’s grainy shea butter chunks). I’m happy using ugly melts since they melt anyway! The scents from her store are super strong. My favourite is Montego Bay, which smells like the Glasshouse candle (coconut and citrus) but way stronger – half a melt lasts for about a week! Utter insanity, highly recommend. She’s also incredibly generous with the samples.

I’ve also been using oils on my body instead of creams (there’ll be more posts on oils later this week). As well as my usual standby, coconut oil, I’ve been using The Aromatherapy Co Cocoa Vanilla and Cassia Bath and Body Oil*, which has a standard vanilla scent with an unusual dash of cinnamon. It smells warm and is a nice scent for winter.

Since the bathroom renovations at our house were completed, I’ve fallen in love with baths again. My new Sunday ritual is a half hour bath with a bath bomb and a face mask, which I’ve been documenting on Instagram (the bathtub has a ledge which is very good for making sure my phone doesn’t fall in). I’ve been loving my Lush bath products* – I’m a huge fan of the melts and bombs, and am warming up to the bubble bars.

  1. One of my favorite winter scents is still the old Estee Lauder ‘Youth Dew’. It’s like putting on a nice warm sweater! In winter I tend towards the spicy and woody.
