There’s bad packaging, and then there’s BAD packaging. Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer is a fantastic product (better than Urban Decay’s Primer Potion in my opinion, and cheaper too, about $8 on eBay!), but the packaging is ridiculous. It’s a curvy bottle with a doe-foot applicator, much like a squat version of the Urban Decay Primer Potion bottle, which is notorious for hiding product in the corners. This bottle manages to be worse. The applicator only reaches about 1/3 of the product, and the bottle looks like it could be opaque pink when you can’t reach any more primer, but that’s actually the product you can see.

From some other blogs, I’ve seen that cutting the bottle open lets you get into the remaining 67%, so I got out my equipment and started sawing away. The bottle’s pretty robust, so it took a lot of elbow grease…

Once I got the bottle open, I could really see how much product was left! So much primer.

I scooped out the primer with a wooden stick into an empty lip balm pot. It filled up the pot! This is probably enough to last me another 6 months, since a little goes a long way.

I’m definitely still going to buy this product – despite the pain, it works great and it’s really budget-friendly. I just wish they’d get better packaging!

  1. I was flip flopping on whether to get this or not and… you convinced me! I’ve never liked UDPP, for whatever reason, but I might try this one. I’m a bit worried about depotting it and then having to use my fingers to scoop it out. Anyhow, does it enhance the colour of eyeshadows or just prolong wear time?

    Thanks for the review 🙂

    • It’s such a good product with the most unfortunate packaging! You’d think they’d know by now, even Urban Decay has changed theirs…
